About Dreams of Climate and Earth Changes

I think there has been enough news coverage to ensure that most people are aware we are experiencing global climate change. Even the Republicans in the U.S. Senate, who had been doubters, have now acknowledged this fact, although they don’t think that humans are the cause. Regardless of the cause, the planet is heating up and the weather has become extreme.

President Obama in his seventh State of the Union speech identified climate change as today’s most significant threat to the safety of future generations. If this is true, it certainly will not be missed by our subconscious minds. We can expect changes in climate to show up in our dreams.

Previously, I have not said much about this subject in relation to dreams because I didn’t want people to focus on this to the exclusion of all of the other benefits of dreams. However, this is topic growing daily in importance; recent data indicates that the rate of ice melting in Antarctica is accelerating.

I believe the effects of changes in the climate will be seen in many people’s dreams, which will include warnings for those in dangerous areas. Your dreams will almost certainly provide alarms about events that affect you directly. And they might tune into catastrophic events on the other side of the world as well, even if you are unaffected.

The most extensive and detailed dream prophecies concerning climate change that I have found are those published by Gordon-Michael Scallion. He has produced detailed maps from his dreams, which can be found on www.matrixinstitute.com (www.earthchanges.com new website under construction).

His maps show a worst-case scenario based on current scientific predictions, but the catastrophic changes predicted have not occurred within his timeline. However, I believe there is much more to the story than that of a failed prophecy.

My views are presented in my book, where I discuss the nature of prophecy as well as the predictions of Gordon-Michael Scallion. I have only had a few dreams over the years that I thought dealt directly with earth changes, but these dreams were extreme and did indicate the advent of severe changes.

Based on the magnitude of the potential changes, I don’t think one can identify a safe place. Some places might pose a lesser risk than others might, but there is always some risk.

A few years ago, I was reminded of this in my own life. After moving to Florida upon retirement, I still owned a condominium in Dayton, Ohio, which was damaged during a severe hailstorm. In fact, the entire complex was damaged to the point that all the roofs had to be replaced.

And just prior to my retirement, a severe windstorm downed trees and power lines, leaving many without power for more than a week. The cleanup took months in some areas. During my six years in Florida, a state considered by many to be high risk, my villa has not had any damage due to storms.

For guidance on where to live, pay attention to your dreams. Safety is only one consideration; your job, sense of belonging, and contributions you can make in a particular area may be the deciding factors. Of course, the desire to be close to family can often outweigh all other considerations.

Work with your dreams daily. If you only pay attention to a dream about catastrophic climate changes, you will be in danger of misinterpreting the dream. Climate or earth changes such as earthquakes might not be literal; they are often symbolic of traumatic events in your life that have nothing to do with weather or earth changes.

Some authors of books about the Edgar Cayce readings have suggested that his predictions of major earth changes by the year 2000 might have been wrong because they were misinterpreted. The authors suggest they were not about literal events, but were symbolic of other struggles faced by humanity. In the case of Cayce’s predictions, I do not share this view, but it is a point to consider. If you are not experienced in working with your own dreams, you might well mistake symbolic events that relate to your life for literal events.

The development of proficiency in interpreting your dreams requires daily work. Like any new activity such as learning a language or becoming proficient in a sport, you have to make a regular application. If you do not, your dreams might just appear to be meaningless and confusing, and often they will be.

The Chestnut Tree

When I was a young boy in elementary school, an event occurred each fall that I eagerly anticipated. A large chestnut tree grew in the front yard of a house I passed each day on my way to and from school. Each year as the cold weather approached, the chestnuts would begin to fall from the tree. The yard was fenced, so many landed in an inaccessible area. The ones that fell outside the fence were quickly grabbed by the children in the neighborhood who, like myself, considered the nuts to be of great value.

This was the only chestnut tree in the area and the competition for the nuts soon got out of hand. The owner of the house, a large, taciturn woman, became somewhat irritated by all the commotion over her chestnuts as children repeatedly scaled her fence to reach the nuts inside the yard.

So she decided to bring discipline to the annual event. She designated a day when she would make all the chestnuts available, which involved shaking some branches and knocking nuts from the tree. Children gathered for the event, and there was considerable shoving and pushing as we grabbed for the nuts. The behavior had much in common with the frenzy that characterizes big sales events such as Black Friday.

The chestnuts became magical for all of us. We thought we were accumulating precious gems, and the children with the most chestnuts were greatly envied. For weeks before the event, small groups plotted for some advantage, some way to collect more nuts than the others did. Some of us tried to persuade the owner to let us collect nuts inside the yard, but she insisted we would have to remain outside the fence with the other children.

I am reminded of the famous tulip craze in Holland in 1637, when some tulip bulbs reportedly sold for many times the annual income of skilled workers. Things are worth what people think they are worth. The things you value have precisely the value you give them.

Certainly, cars and houses have a monetary value given by the market that is partly based on cost, but the value of even these items can fluctuate rapidly based on the perception of their worth. If the price of gasoline were to skyrocket tomorrow, a car that is not gas efficient would drop in value. And try to sell your house if something occurs that makes your location undesirable.

Beyond the financial value, what is the real value of something? One person may value the outcome of a sporting event to the point that he or she becomes physically ill if his or her favorite team does not prevail. Others may look at the same event and be completely unmoved by the outcome. It has no value for them. We give the things in our lives their values. Like the children with the chestnuts, we decide what has value and should rise to the status of a gem.

At this point, you might wonder what this has to do with dreams. We all have chestnuts in our lives. Often we do not realize it; we forget they are just chestnuts. Dreams can and will point out to you the chestnuts in your life. Your dreams will show you how you have made collecting and protecting those chestnuts your goal. The machinations you perform and sacrifices you make to acquire and retain those chestnuts will become very clear, and a better way will be revealed.

The chestnuts might not be physical objects. They might be thoughts and beliefs. One person might consider people of a certain ethnic background or religion of greater or lesser value. Another person might think one gender is superior to the other, or think having friends of only one gender is superior to being more inclusive. Some might consider Intellectuals superior to athletes or vice versa.

The possibilities are endless. However, through attention, reflection, and dreams we can identify our chestnuts. And perhaps we can find the things of real value.

People We Encounter in Dreams of Tomorrow

We constantly meet people in our dreams. Sometimes they are people we know, and other times they are people with whom we have only minimal contact or no contact at all.

Why does a particular individual appear in a dream? I can best answer this by providing a concrete example. I have claimed that my dreams preview the next day’s activities and encounters (the subject of my book), so the following example will answer the question of why a particular person appears in a dream and shed some light on how precognitive dreams occur.

A few weeks ago, I dreamed that I encountered Pope Francis in a dream. We talked for a while, and he laughed and was quite amicable. There was a bit more to the dream, but I want to focus on this aspect.

The next day I went out for a walk in my neighborhood, which I do on a daily basis. I met a man who lives nearby and who is a familiar sight walking his dog. I had never had a conversation with him before, but something occurred in the neighborhood near me that caused him to stop and strike up a conversation. He was very friendly and jovial. We talked for about ten minutes before I continued my walk. I realized later that he reminded me of Pope Francis.

Now, I have said previously that people we meet in precognitive dreams are not likely to be the people we will actually meet, because dreams are usually not literal in that way. The subconscious makes associations.

My impression of Pope Francis, based upon news videos and articles, is that he is a friendly, even jovial, person. This is how he was tagged in my memory and what was stored in my subconscious. When my subconscious decided to relate a coming encounter with an individual that was outside my normal routine, it used what was stored for a friendly, somewhat jovial, individual. And what was stored recently was Pope Francis.

You might ask why the dream did not just use the actual individual. In this case, I had not talked with this man previously and had not characterized him. The dream focus was not just about encountering that particular man, which would have said nothing about the type of encounter and psychological impact. The dream wanted to say I would have an encounter with a friendly, jovial person with some degree of bonding, so it used the person of Pope Francis to convey that message.

I believe the above analysis explains why few people understand just how prophetic their dreams are. Most would reflect briefly on a dream about Pope Francis and think, how ridiculous. I’m certainly not going to meet the pope. The dream is nonsense. Well, the dream is not nonsense.

Each character and object in a dream is chosen by the subconscious for a reason, and the key to deciphering the meaning is through your associations with the symbol.

If you dream about a particular person you know, ask yourself what that person represents. What are your associations for that person? What thoughts come to mind when you think about the person? What things do you strongly identify with the person? These will provide clues that will help you decipher the meaning of that person in the dream.

Dreams and Food

I have written about dreams and diet before, but I think a follow-up is in order considering some recent revelations. Earlier this year, several lawsuits were filed against major retailers over store-brand herbal supplements that reputedly did not contain the ingredients listed. Apparently, a large percentage did not have any of the herbal ingredients advertised (http://www.law360.com/articles/618601/wal-mart-target-walgreen-sued-over-herbal-supplements). Obviously, this will have to play out in the courts.

About the same time, McDonald’s, in response to a new surge of stories on the Internet, again reported that in 2011 it had dropped the use of ‘pink slime’, which contains ammonium hydroxide, in the production of its hamburgers (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/27/pink-slime-fast-food_n_1237206.html).

Earlier this month they announced they would no longer use chicken injected with human antibiotics or milk produced from cows injected with artificial growth hormones (http://www.cnbc.com/id/102475985).

Dunkin’ Donuts announced it is dropping the use of titanium dioxide from its powdered doughnuts (http://money.cnn.com/2015/03/10/news/companies/dunkin-donuts-titanium-dioxide/). You can read these articles and many others posted to reach your own conclusions. I do think that concerns about the food we eat are causing major food chains to rethink the constituents in the products they sell, even if approved by the FDA.

The above disclosures make it clear that we can’t always trust the labels on products, and that certain food additives are making some individuals and groups very nervous. I doubt if most people know what goes into the burger they eat or even the food served in an expensive restaurant.

The common food additives are approved by the FDA, but even a superficial investigation reveals that there is little data concerning long-term effects. I can’t claim to know the long-term effects of the ingredients removed by the above-mentioned companies, but I’m not certain anyone does. Data about the effects of some of the additives gives reason for concern.

There is a common additive to bread, buns, and numerous other pastry items called azodicarbonamide. It caused quite a controversy when an individual ran a successful campaign to get it removed by Subway.

This chemical is used in breads as a dough conditioner and is found in most breads (http://www.ewg.org/release/yoga-mat-chemical-found-nearly-500-foods). This chemical additive is not approved for use in the European Union and Australia, but is approved by the FDA for use in the United States.

Many will say that they have been consuming all of the above-mentioned additives their entire lives and are fine. The human body can certainly adapt well to a wide variety of foods and still function. However, this does not mean that everyone’s body can adapt to the artificial additives, or that there are not long-term effects such as dementia and cancer or some other disease.

I, and many others, do not believe that sufficient testing has been done to reach conclusions about the safety of many items that show up in food, cosmetics, and even household cleaners.

My approach is simple. I read labels and strive to purchase items that are organic, and if not organic, I buy ones that do not contain questionable ingredients. Most important of all, I monitor my dreams for any warnings about foods I eat or chemicals to which I am exposed.

In perusing hundreds of Edgar Cayce readings, it became apparent that his advice concerning diet was specific to the individual. There are some general caveats such as avoiding fried food, but most of the advice took into account the state of health and physiology of the individual who requested the reading.

A food that might be beneficial for one individual could be harmful for another. Your dreams as a product of your subconscious have access to the effects of different foods on you.

As an example, many years ago I was told in a dream to cut down on the number of eggs I was eating. In reviewing the Cayce readings, he often suggested the egg yolk for consumption rather than the whole egg. The quantity he recommended varied with the condition and individual.

For many years, health professionals suggested three eggs a week as a limit. But recently some studies have shown that one need not be concerned about the number of eggs consumed. However, I will stick with my dream advice and limit my consumption of eggs.

Your body will tell you in various ways when a food or environment is not beneficial. Consciously be aware of your feelings and pay attention to your dreams.

I don’t eat burgers from fast-food restaurants because one night I had a dream that indicated I should put such food down the garbage disposal. This wasn't the only reason I quit, but confirmed what I strongly suspected—the burgers weren't good for me. My decision was a personal one.

I can’t tell you what food is good for you, but your body can. However, before making major changes to your diet, discuss them with your physician.

In recent years, we have seen an explosion of autism, diabetes, and breast cancer. The increases might be due to a combination of factors that affect our daily lives, but one of these factors could certainly be the food we eat. And what is added to it during preparation for consumption is only part of the story; the other part is what is added to the soil that finds its way into our food and then our body.

Prophetic Dream of an Encounter

About twenty years ago, I sometimes had lunch at a restaurant that offered a salad bar. Normally I would go there on a Friday. One Thursday night or early Friday morning, I had the following dream.

I was in a restaurant and I saw a young woman clearing a table. In the dream, her face radiated light with a total glow around her face and head. I spoke to her in the dream, but upon awakening, I couldn’t recall the conversation. I thought the dream a bit odd, but by now had enough experience interpreting my dreams to realize it could well foretell an encounter somewhere on Friday.

On Friday, I decided to go to the restaurant I normally frequented, not because of the dream, but more out of routine. I had actually forgotten about the dream by lunchtime.

The servers in the restaurant brought customers drinks and other items that might have been missed at the salad bar, and after customers left, they would clean the tables. After going through the line, I found a table and prepared to eat.

I had just started when I heard a voice. Looking up, I saw a young woman who appeared to be around twenty years of age. She asked if I needed anything, and we started talking.

It was summertime, and she was working at the restaurant during her summer break from college. I soon learned that she was active in a church and frequently sang during the services and special events. As she talked, it was obvious that she loved singing religious songs. The more she talked, the more her face brightened until she literally glowed.

The young woman had just started working at the restaurant, so this was my first encounter with her. I did see her several more times during my Friday lunches before she returned to school. She discovered my interest in dreams, which fascinated her, so we had many interesting conversations.

We often encounter people in our dreams who we have not met before. Sometimes the meeting remains on the dream level, but it can also be a preview of an encounter with someone the next day, as was the case in my dream.

Meetings like the one described are not the chance events most people think, but are played out on a psychic level before finding expression in the material world.

Dreams of a Future We Cannot Change—Example 2

This is my second example of a dream revealing a future I could not change. In this dream, which is also described in my book, a health issue is shown occurring in the future on a specific date. This is unusual because normally I do not get specific dates or times in a dream. The complete excerpt between the quotation marks is taken from my book.

"I watched a single drop of blood as it fell to a surface. A voice said, 'In ninety days.' Suddenly, the scene changed and I was sitting in a chair in what appeared to be some type of doctor’s or surgical office. A nurse stood beside me and a doctor performed some type of procedure. Then the dream ended.

As ninety days approached, I became a bit apprehensive about what might occur. At what was exactly ninety days, I got out of bed in the morning to find the vision in my left eye quite blurred, as if some huge particles had found their way into my eye while I slept. I looked into the mirror, but could not see anything. I already had some floaters, but this was quite different. I made an appointment with my ophthalmologist, who said what I was seeing was dried blood, usually the result of a tear in the retina. He couldn’t see a tear, but quickly got me an appointment with a retina specialist, and within two hours I was seated in a chair with a nurse beside me as the doctor sealed a small tear in the retina with a laser.
After I had the dream, I thought about possible health issues, but I could not think of anything that made sense in the context of the dream. There was not any medical action I could take to prevent what was about to happen, because I didn’t know the type of condition from the information in the dream. I had regular checkups with an ophthalmologist and no problems were found during my last visit."

This was a warning about a future event I could not change, so I thought the dream was preparing me psychologically. I had sufficient notice to prepare myself emotionally for something that might require surgery.

The event occurred exactly as the dream showed, which is significant for at least two reasons. The amazing ability of the subconscious to understand the condition of the body was demonstrated, and the warning allowed me to prepare for an event that probably would have have elicited much greater concern, when it occurred, had I not received the warning.

Some will say that they would rather not know about events like this ahead of time, and these individuals probably will not receive a dream warning. It will be filtered out before it reaches consciousness as a remembered dream.

This is an important point. It we believe that we can receive guidance through our dreams, we will have such dreams. If we believe it is not possible or don’t want to know, then the information will most likely be suppressed before it reaches our conscious self.

Now there are exceptional times when the subconscious will override any barriers and the dream will be recalled. An example of this is a life-threatening situation of which we are consciously unaware.
